About The Role:

As a Senior Platform Engineer at Walr, you will design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions to optimise performance, security, and scalability. Leveraging your expertise in cloud platforms (preferably MS Azure), you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of services. You will also troubleshoot cloud-related issues and mentor junior engineers. Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure Development

• Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions using MS Azure.

• Architect cloud-native systems, including serverless and microservices architectures, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Implement robust failover and backup strategies to ensure high availability and disaster recovery of cloud services.

• Design and optimize multi-region and multi-environment cloud infrastructure for global scalability and low latency.

• Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates to promote consistency and version control in cloud management.

• Monitor and optimize cloud costs with Azure Cost Management, ensuring efficient resource allocation and minimizing unnecessary expenses.

DevSecOps & Automation

• Advocate for DevSecOps principles by establishing CI/CD/CS pipelines for infrastructure automation.

• Automate the deployment, monitoring, and scaling of cloud services using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, ensuring security throughout the development lifecycle.

• Implement observability for cloud services with monitoring and logging tools like Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana for proactive issue resolution.

• Ensure adherence to security best practices through security automation, regular vulnerability assessments, and compliance with standards like GDPR, SOC2, and ISO 271001.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Agile Delivery

• Collaborate in agile, cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that enhance user experience and provide business value.

• Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned.

• Maintain a strong product mindset, prioritizing user-centric solutions that align with business objectives.

• Contribute actively to all stages of product development, from ideation to production deployment, supporting continuous feature delivery.

Leadership & Mentorship

• Lead technical discussions, guiding architectural decisions and ensuring adherence to best practices in software design and development.

• Coach and mentor engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages skill growth and career advancement.

Desired Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure design, primarily with MS Azure (AWS or GCP experience is a plus).

• Expertise in cloud-native development, including serverless architectures, microservices, and managed services.

• Proficient in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.

• Strong understanding of cloud security, including identity and access management (IAM), network security, and automation.

• Extensive experience in DevSecOps, focusing on CI/CD pipeline design, automated testing, and security integration.

• Skilled in establishing observability across cloud infrastructure, including metrics, logs, and tracing.

• Holds expert-level cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect or similar).

• Familiar with container orchestration (Kubernetes, AKS) and management (Docker).

• Comfortable working in agile, cross-functional teams alongside Product Managers and Designers.

• Proficient in leading technical discussions and guiding technical direction.

• Experienced in coaching and mentoring engineers.

• Possesses a strong product mindset, prioritizing user-centric solutions that align with business goals.

• Excellent communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Desired Skills & Attributes:

• Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid cloud solutions.

• Skilled in cloud cost management, including budgeting and optimization strategies.

• Knowledgeable in edge computing solutions and their integration with cloud platforms.

• Experience in SaaS-based operating environments.
